Poker is a card game in which players place bets using poker chips. Players can “raise” their bets by raising their initial ante, or “call” (to remain in the game until they see what the other players are doing). The highest-hand wins the pot. The betting rounds usually proceed in a clockwise direction. If you have a good hand, you can raise your initial bet or fold it.<\/p>\n
There are two basic forms of Poker: Draw Poker and Stud Poker. In Draw Poker, all the cards are dealt face-down, while in Stud Poker, some cards are dealt face-up as the betting progresses. The difference between the two is that, in Stud Poker, the other players can see part of the player’s hand. Draw Poker is usually played only by experienced players. Some of these players use a stripped deck of cards, containing only deuces and treys. In both games, there are eight players.<\/p>\n
Players can also establish a kitty. The kitty is a fund established for the purpose of buying new decks of cards and food during the game. Players who have contributed to the kitty fund are entitled to a share. However, players who leave the game before it ends will not receive a share of the kitty.<\/p>\n
The pot odds in poker are 15:5. These numbers can also be translated to a ratio or percentage. For example, if the high card is higher, the higher hand wins. If no one has a pair, the high card will break the tie.
